Which wardrobe for which man?

A few days ago, we did a new feature on the essentials for men to own. Accompanied by more original pieces according to trends and moods, they constitute our wardrobe that we organise more or less well according to the space we can give it, our ingenuity and our budget. In partnership with Houzz, who offers a great source of inspiration, especially for achieving his ideal dressing room, we have selected ideas that correspond to different types of men and other interiors. We hope that this will inspire you in turn to (re) organise your wardrobe!

1. The student

When you are a student, you often have to deal with a small or shared living space. The good news is that between classes, aperitifs and student parties, we are rarely at home! However, you have to find a solution to store your clothes. Grandma insisted on returning us to lend her large wardrobe, but she does not go in the stairwell! And it would occupy half of the 15 m². Therefore, it will be necessary to show ingenuity by adopting a walk-in closet that can easily be adjusted according to your studio’s layout. With a rod, a few boards and a screwdriver, you can quickly assemble it yourself and at a lower cost. After installing a wardrobe corner, attach a few shelves below to store piles of laundry or shoes. This organisation makes it possible to optimise the space, and it blends in quite well with the decor (if you stay relatively tidy).

2. The athlete

We all remember those American dramas from the 1990s and those testosterone-doped teenage actors closing their colourful metal lockers after baseball practice. We are rather fans of these retroelements that animated our youth, so we had to necessarily evoke this type of storage suitable for athletes that we are (or not). It is the decorative solution for storing our sports equipment and, incidentally, the opportunity to make some room in the marriage closet. It’s making a comeback in furniture stores today. So we can easily find it, but for the most purists of us, nothing beats buying a vintage locker at a flea market!

3. The meticulous

Simply because we do not mix tea towels with towels and even fewer socks with shirts, it seems evident that we need to devote an assigned place to each of our clothes in the closet. In a real maniac’s closet, nothing is left to chance. We all dream of it, and even if there is a lack of space, it is possible to compete with ingenuity to achieve it in the smallest areas. Under a staircase, in an under-slope, in the corner of a room, anything is possible. Of course, we insist on arrangements specific to our habits: an extended wardrobe length for our suits ( jackets, pants) and shirts, a few shelves for shoes. Everything needs to be hanging, crease-free and impeccably ironed for the most meticulous of us.

4. The minimalist

Within each apartment/house, there is always a convoluted entrance, oddly designed and challenging to arrange. This is typically the opportunity to integrate storage in a small recess. Our preference is for white and wood colours, it is sober, classy and timeless. Enough to hang up a few jackets, store our favourite pairs of shoes and take the opportunity to integrate a bench (with storage), to take the time to put on your boots, while seated. We take the opportunity to remind you that the shoehorn is almost essential not to deform them, so find a place for it! ;)

5. The acrobat

The advantage in rooms with high ceilings is the possibility of integrating even more storage space. This is a significant space-saving allowing us to optimise space and a little our dream of the closet that never ends. For even more class, we showcase the famous ladder that slides from either side of the wardrobe to allow us to reach the full height. Practical for changing your wardrobe depending on the season, you just need to swap the Bermuda shorts against the turtlenecks: “Hop you go down, you go up, etc.” “.

6. The narcissist

Even though it’s not really our pasture fair, this dressing room surprised us. In a room painted entirely white, we can say that mirrors’ accumulation gives depth and above all a lot of luminosity. A small “Hall of mirrors” effect which nevertheless has certain advantages: being able to look at yourself from head to toe to spot the slightest crease or the slightest stain. Nothing will be left to chance with the installation of such a walk-in closet! Then it slams! Be careful with fingerprints, it is better to be a maniac for its maintenance.

7. The collector

While some may hesitate for long hours between a petrol blue or royal blue shirt, the collector has a more pragmatic vision: when in doubt, he takes both! He can buy it in 3 or 4 copies by expanding the colour palette if he likes a product. Obviously, you still have to have the means to have this type of impulsive behaviour and then the space to organise a wardrobe that can quickly become XXL. The idea then is to have a dedicated room for this. This walk-in closet has a vast wardrobe space allowing you to precisely organise your clothes. It will enable you to see your wardrobe at a glance and quickly find a particular item!

8. The refined

Whoever has the worry of buying relatively few but high-quality parts will be looking for a case to match. A lover of pretty things, it’s a safe bet that he will also appreciate a beautiful wooden piece of furniture for its warm appearance and elegance. Associated with glass walls, this wardrobe worthy of a department store allows you to enhance your wardrobe and be able to put together your outfit at a glance! This requires having a room large enough to make this type of walk-in closet along a wall. And obviously, it is better to be a well-organized man to opt for this principle of transparency!

9. The atypical

This dressing room is often imposed on us when dealing with a reduced living space and optimising the smallest m². This is particularly the case for the attic areas which need to be ingenious in devising appropriate storage solutions. Proof of this is that it is nevertheless possible to create a dressing room in a quirky space, with this example in which shelves were made in the sub-slope. A first narrow piece of furniture made it possible to arrange two wardrobe bars above the other. Finally, a larger cabinet accommodates a new storage bar and two large drawers. The only downside, an atypical dressing room is made almost exclusively to measure. So better to be a handyman or have a relatively large budget!

10. The Trump

For those who are crazy about the size and want a wardrobe that is no more and no less the equivalent of the most luxurious fashion boutiques, we offer “The Trump”. Made from a rare exotic wood, the cutting of which required the deforestation of more than 36 hectares, this dressing room is exceptionally comfortable and robust. You will have no trouble arranging thirty suits, a good fifty shirts and sweaters and a great many accessories: shoes, ties, pockets, tubes of nominal, etc. Each piece will find its place on its small shelf, its small drawer, its small locker, in an almost military organisation. Obviously, it remains to find the necessary space to make such a dressing room! Unless you have your own “Trump Tower” yourself?
